Linfox and Volvo are accelerating the future of sustainable transport and logistics with Australia’s largest ever order of electric heavy vehicles.
Linfox will receive a landmark 30 electric prime movers, comprised of 29 Volvo FM vehicles and one FH Electric model. Ten of the prime movers were delivered by Volvo to Linfox’s distribution centre in Willawong, Queensland in May 2025, also making history as the biggest single delivery of EVs in Australia.
Linfox is excited to partner with Volvo in driving the future and leading sustainable logistics in Australia. Further electrifying our fleet sets the standard for us and our customers and the entire industry.” said Executive Chairman Linfox Pty Ltd, Peter Fox AM.
From Linfox’s Willawong site, Volvo Group Australia President and CEO, Martin Merrick also announced that Volvo would begin manufacturing the first Australian-made heavy duty electric vehicles. Ten of the vehicles in Linfox’s order will carry the Australian Made label.
“As a proud Australian company, it is our great pleasure to take ownership of the first Australian-made heavy duty electric vehicles,” said Peter.
The new electric prime movers are partially funded through the Federal Government’s Driving the Nation fund, announced in 2024 to help reduce Australia’s road transport emissions.
Future ready
Linfox is an early adopter of zero and low emission technology, first introducing heavy duty electric vehicles in 2021. In 2024, Linfox added two Volvo electric prime movers to its fleet, the first of their kind in Australia.
“These electric vehicles can travel 300 kilometres on a single charge and are supported by charging infrastructure at Linfox’s purpose-built 5 Star Green Star GBCA rated distribution centres,” said Linfox Manager Environmental Sustainability, Ruby Diaz.
“Increasing our fleet of Volvo electric prime movers allows Linfox to service our customers across an extended metropolitan network.”
This is a significant step in our decarbonisation strategy.
One Volvo FM Electric model prevents an estimated 65 tonnes of CO2-e emissions per year from entering the atmosphere, the equivalent of removing approximately 15 cars from the road.*
“As industry leaders, not only are we significantly reducing the carbon footprint of our own transport operations, but we are also helping our customers to meet their emission reduction commitments,” said Ruby.

The 43,000sqm DC is home to valued customers including Coles Liquor Group, Brown Brothers, Bacardi, Fiji Water, Drinksworks, Taylors Wines and South Trade.
Designed with the future in mind, the Kemps Creek DC delivers “exactly what we need today, and everything we’ll need for tomorrow,” according to Andy Hampson, Head of Supply Chain at Coles Liquor.
“Our vision is to be the go-to drinks retailer for any occasion, and our supply chain is a big enabler of this,” said Andy.
“The DC caters to the seasonality that’s part and parcel of the beverage industry, as well as our ambitious growth plans.

Beverage hub benefits
Linfox President BevChain and New Zealand, Misha Shliapnikoff said the proximity to other BevChain managed sites will enable the sharing of fleet, people and capability.
“The ability to share resources makes us incredibly agile, with enormous benefits for lead time, shelf availability, efficiency and overall value,” said Misha.
Supporting a diverse workforce
Kemps Creek is located approximately 39 kilometres west of Sydney’s CBD.
Greater Western Sydney is known for its diverse and thriving population, with more than 50 per cent of residents speaking a language other than English.
Supporting and attracting a diverse workforce is a top priority, and the new site reflects this with a well-equipped parenting room and a prayer room.
The site also honours the Dharug Indigenous community, showcasing works by Gamilaraay and Dharug artist, Bernadette Hardy. These art works represent the shape and form of Ropes Creek, a location deeply connected to Dharug stories of fertility and motherhood.
Sustainable credentials
The DC was designed and built to achieve 5 Star Green Star certification from the Green Building Council of Australia, reflecting Linfox and BevChain’s commitment to act sustainably.
“Our customers are increasingly committed to reducing their scope two and three emissions,” said Misha.
“We work closely with our customers to meet our shared sustainability goals. It’s not only beneficial for the environment and our communities, but it also makes good business sense.”

BevChain’s impressive new 35,000 square-metre beverages DC in Maddington, WA was officially opened by Linfox President BevChain Misha Shliapnikoff.
This continues Linfox and BevChain’s important work growing a sustainable national logistics network in key locations for its customers, supported by quality buildings and modern fleet.
Our new DC provides much needed additional ambient and temperature-controlled capacity. It positions BevChain for future growth in the west, conveniently near our customers, transportation hubs and routes,” said Linfox President BevChain, Misha Shliapnikoff.
The safe, sustainable facility has opened in time to quench WA’s thirst ahead of summer. Designed and built to achieve 5 Star Green Star certification, the site houses many well-known beverage brands across beer, wine, spirits and non-alcoholic drink categories.
This work is the result of careful planning, management and investment by Linfox, BevChain, and supplier partners, together with project and site teams. Well done to all who worked tirelessly to bring this exciting new facility to life.

In recent months, BevChain has moved Lion’s range of beer products into the new Maddington DC. The state-of-the-art facility enhances Lion’s capability in the west.
Since 2006, Lion have trusted BevChain to provide full end-to-end logistics right across the country for its big-name liquor brands including XXXX, Tooheys, Hahn, Furphy, Little Creatures and James Squire.
As a BevChain foundation customer, the relationship with Lion continues to grow as BevChain consistently provides strong service results and logistics management capability, including an end-to-end solution from Lion’s multiple brewery production plants to national warehouse, distribution and linehaul networks.
With ongoing confidence in BevChain to deliver, Lion was able to implement several significant network changes across its customer-base throughout the year.
As of June 2023, BevChain now delivers Lion beer directly into the Coles network, replacing previous BevChain delivery model from the Lion DC to store.
This fundamental change to the Lion and Coles partnership improves the operational profile for Lion whilst presenting a consolidated delivery model for Coles.
Another considerable milestone for Lion was its purchase of Fermentum, more broadly known for its flagship brand Stone & Wood.
BevChain seamlessly managed and executed the logistics integration and achieved near-perfect service results through the onboarding process.
“Strong collaboration, trust and transparency between BevChain and Lion were the hallmarks of success for the significant network changes,” said Misha.
